Marine dealers need special software tools to run their parts departments. Why try to work with outdated DOS programs or generic software like QuickBooks? Commander software is designed for the marine business! With Commander you’ll store and automatically update entire price books on your computer including Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Honda and all major aftermarket suppliers: Land n Sea, Kellogg, Port Supply, Donovan, etc. . And you’ll get access to cross referencing, comparative pricing and tag and drop functionality to your Electronic Parts Catalog too!
Commander Software gives you the controls you need to effectively manage your service department.  Quick access to service history for customer-owned boats and parts previously used allows mechanics to work faster and focus their attention away from paperwork and back to servicing boats and motors.  Take advantage of Commander’s available interface to Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo and BRP electronic parts catalogs to streamline your service department, increase accuracy and cut down on paperwork.

Commander includes a sales module for serialized units (boats, motors and trailers) that provides positive control of all your units, both new and used. When you sell a boat, motor or trailer, Commander allows you to search by Year, Make, Model, HIN or Engine Serial number and easily add the Unit to a sales invoice along with any additional fees such as DMV, title, setup. The customer is then automatically linked to the Boat record making it easy for your service department to generate future repair orders. The cost of each Unit is calculated by using a base cost and adding any additional work done (internal work orders) so that reconditioning costs are accurately tracked and added to the cost of your trade-ins. With Commander you will always know the exact value of your serialized unit inventory, the number of days a Unit has been in inventory and the flooring due date. Commander will place a stocked Unit “on-hold” for customers who make a deposit and allow you to apply the final payment from the Bank when the financing is approved and the payment is received.
Commander and QuickBooks Work Well Together

Quickbooks is a great accounting system, so keep using it for your financial reporting. But Commander’s superior POS and Inventory functionality makes it by far, the best choice to drive your parts, service and sales departments.

Commander integrates to Quickbooks and will automatically post sales transactions and payments to QuickBooks. This integration provides much improved functionality for your business!

Commander does provide a full menu of accounting reports as well.  That includes cashing out your daily register to inventory costing and sales reports that track profitability. Sales made in Commander can be broken down with Commander’s chart of accounts or printed for paying commissions by employee.  Even track billable hours by technician. And Commander prints sales tax reports to assist in payment of monthly sales taxes.
