Work Orders

The Commander Work Order program gives your Service Department precise control over key information: tracks service history, parts special orders, schedules jobs and clocks labor times by technician.  Even provides a breakdown of repairs by Job/Task on the boat or motor.  By separating these Tasks it’s easy for your customer to approve or decline the work they want to approve for their boat, motor or trailer.

Following are specific features of the Commander Work Order Software:

  • Commander searches and locates parts used on any Work Order by entering a part number, partial number, part description, UPC code, vendor part number or even an alternate part number
  • Easily attach pictures of any boat or motor that documents damage or required service work – or any picture of your choice.
  • Commander can create reports showing service department profitability reports and other variable reports.

The Commander RO eliminates unnecessary data entry and the problem of messy handwritten repair orders.  Easily print estimates and write repair orders containing all the pertinent information about that customer and his boat or motor that is being serviced.

Commander can create reports showing service department profitability reports and other variable reports.
Commander’s Work Order Program solves the problem of messy handwritten work orders.  Now you can quickly build and print estimates and write work orders showing all the important information regarding your customer and the boat or motor in for service.
Because Commander interfaces to popular EPC programs from Mercury, Yamaha, Honda and Volvo-Penta, these programs can be used to help complete Work Orders!  Your pick list created in the EPC transfers directly to your work order.  This makes it easy to push parts to the Work Order without any manual typing of part numbers.
It is easy to find, price and special order parts required for the job because OEM and vendor entire catalogs are stored on your computer.  Compiling and transmitting purchase orders with just a few mouse clicks is possible because all parts that you might need to be special order are already stored in your system, in the OEM and aftermarket price files.
Commander provides the required controls that are needed to successfully control your service department.  With fingertip access to customers, boats, motors and parts inventory, your technicians can be more organized and work faster, focusing attention back to repairing customer units.

Parts Pricing on Work Orders

Price and Cross Reference

Web-based price updates keep all your parts prices current for Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, Honda and all the major aftermarket suppliers too, such as Land n Sea, Kellogg, Donovan, etc.  The Cross Reference feature will show which Sierra items can be substituted and will show comparative pricing, too.

Accurate, Complete and Automatic

  •  Database contains price books for over 400 vendors, updated via the internet
  •  Cross Reference between vendors included to suggest alternate parts that will work for this repair.
  • Even shows comparative parts pricing between many vendors

Integration to Huggins Cross Reference Program

  •  Commander also integrates to the Huggins Outboard computer programs aftermarket cross reference for marine dealers.  This helps dealers determine if a part is available as a dealer-only item or from an aftermarket source. It lists parts available on the aftermarket by the manufacturer, part number, wholesale cost and suggested retail price. In many cases, the system also offers side-by-side photographs of the OEM and aftermarket parts for easy comparison.  For details go to http://www.hugginsweb.com

more . . . . parts pricing

Parts prices are always changing!  For example, one aftermarket vendor, Land n Sea, alone has 66,800 part numbers in their catalog.  What if you sell parts from Land n Sea, Sierra, Mesco, Port Supply, Mercury, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Volvo-Penta (to name a few)?  We’re talking about 1.1 million part numbers (1,163,221 to be exact).  These are part numbers and prices that are changing continually.  If you ignore these changes, you’re going to be selling parts at prices that are too low.  This is a BIG profit leak!

It IS possible to price parts one at a time by going to the vendor’s web site or thumbing through their parts directory.  But who is going to get the assignment?  Will it be you or the parts manager or maybe the service manager or the bookkeeper or a counter person?  Who in your shop has time to keep this huge quantity of part numbers updated?

Most likely, no one wants the job.  BUT . . . keeping prices current is our specialty here at MIC Systems!  We have a whole department that works hard to collect, compile, convert and distribute this valuable Parts Pricing.  Our staff then converts it into a format that will load right into our Commander software.  We supply you with Parts Pricing and Updates for over 400 vendors and distributors.  We can even do “one off” customized price files for your own important or local short-line vendors.

Interface to EPC

Commander interfaces to the major EPC suppliers, so you can tag images and automatically transfer parts directly into Work Orders without re-entering the part numbers!  This is not only much faster, but improves the accuracy of parts special orders because it prevents transposed and mis-typed part numbers.

Commander interfaces to these EPC Systems:

  • Mercury Marine Midas
  • Volvo Penta
  • Yamaha
  • Honda iN
  • Parts Manager Pro – Snap On
  • ARI PartSmart

Flat Rate Labor Guide

Flat Rate Labor Guide

Commander has the ability to import flat rate labor guides into the system.

  • Most marine vendors make flat rate guides available which are downloadable
  • We can also convert the Spader database and integrate with Commander
  • All compute labor prices and integrate with Commander service software

Technician Scheduler

Commander includes an interactive Technician Scheduler to help stay organized and manage service jobs.

  • Displays in a calendar format
  • Colorized, by technician
  • Graphical view of service department schedule provided
  • Review by day, week or month
  • Hard copy is printable for each technician

When a job is selected in the calendar, a double click opens the RO, permitting easy parts ordering, payments and RO maintenance straight from the scheduler.  A right click on the job permits rescheduling, set to completion, clear & change the display time scale to hour or ½ hour increments.  The layout of the Scheduler can be viewed by Day, Week, or Month to quickly identify what jobs are in the que.  The schedule can also be printed as a handout for technicians.
