accurate pricing
Built specifically for the marine industry
One system for parts, service, sales, and accounting, priced and built for how marine dealerships actually work, not a generic platform stretched to fit.
Complete parts & pricing control
Web-based price updates and EPC integrations keep you selling at accurate, current prices across 400+ vendors.
Streamlined sales & accounting
From the sales calculator to automatic QuickBooks posting, paperwork and data entry disappear.
Every department, covered
Practical benefits that support better business outcomes. Select a department to see everything Commander does for your marine dealership.
Take control of your parts department
Stop wasting time manually entering part numbers, descriptions, costs, and prices. Commander gives your marine dealership access to complete vendor price books, so the information your parts department needs is already there. Commander can store entire parts catalogs containing every available vendor part number, not just what you currently stock. Simply add an on-hand quantity and Commander turns those items into active inventory.
Built for marine dealerships, not generic retail stores
Handwritten parts invoices and work orders cost time and create unnecessary errors. Generic off-the-shelf POS and inventory programs aren’t designed around the way a marine dealership operates. Commander is. Rather than turning your parts staff into data-entry clerks, Commander gives them the information they need to concentrate on what matters: serving customers, selling parts, and running a more profitable dealership.
Current pricing for major brands
Pricing stays current for major marine manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, including:
- Mercury
- Yamaha
- Honda
- Volvo Penta
- Yanmar
- Land 'N' Sea
- Kellogg Marine
- Donovan Marine
- + many more
Find the right part, fast
Locate parts by part number or partial number, description, UPC/barcode, vendor number, or alternate part number. Search using the keyboard or scan the item's barcode. Every stocked item can include its bin location.
Pricing control
Each part can include Last Cost, Average Cost, Package Cost, and Reorder Cost, plus a List Price and nine additional calculated selling-price fields, giving you full control over margins and pricing strategy.
Cross-reference
Can't find the exact part? Cross Reference identifies substitute and alternate parts with comparative pricing, so your team can quickly find the best option for the customer and your dealership.
Point of sale
- Scans, prices, extends, taxes, totals, and prints a parts invoice in as little as 7 seconds
- Tag-and-drop EPC integration (Mercury MercNet EZParts5, Yamaha, Volvo Penta, ARI PartSmart, PartsManager Pro), no typing of part numbers
- Interfaces with the Huggins Outboard aftermarket cross reference
- Special order parts automatically move to a “PO” pad, a staging area for purchase orders
- Credit card processing directly from the POS screen, no more stapling receipts
Price updates for 600+ vendors
Automatic price updating across 600+ manufacturers and suppliers keeps costs and selling prices current, adds newly available part numbers automatically, reduces manual entry, and protects your margins from accidental underselling. Don't see your vendor? We maintain an extensive library of price files and can often convert a vendor's electronic price file to load directly into Commander.
EPC / microfiche integration
Tag part numbers in your EPC and drop them directly into a parts invoice or service RO, no retyping. Integrates with ARI PartSmart, Mercury EZParts5, Yamaha, Honda iN, and Volvo Penta, among others.
Electronic purchase orders
Ordering parts shouldn't mean retyping an entire purchase order on a vendor's website. Commander electronically uploads purchase orders to supported suppliers, including Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Volvo Penta, Land 'N' Sea, Diversified Marine, and Kellogg Marine, eliminating duplicate data entry and reducing ordering mistakes.
Barcode scanners & printers
Built-in barcode scanning speeds up invoice and RO creation. Commander can also automatically print barcodes for received items that need one.
Special orders & stock orders
Commander automatically knows which parts on an invoice or RO are in stock versus needing a special order, moving non-stocked items to the PO Pad automatically.
- Electronically places orders with vendors
- Automatically updates on-hand quantities when parts are received
- Prints barcode labels for received parts
- Generates special order reports and flags which customers need notifying
- Allows price adjustment before receiving POs
- Generates suggested stock orders based on min/max levels or seasonality
Commander + QuickBooks
Keep QuickBooks for accounting. Commander handles the parts inventory, point-of-sale, repair order, and purchasing functionality generic accounting software wasn't built for, then interfaces with QuickBooks.
Run a faster, more profitable parts department
Commander gives your employees the tools to find parts faster, maintain accurate pricing, control inventory, simplify ordering, and provide better customer service.
Work orders
The Commander Work Order program gives your service department precise control: service history, parts special orders, job scheduling, and labor time tracking by technician, broken down by job/task so customers can approve or decline specific work.
No more messy handwritten ROs
The Commander RO eliminates unnecessary data entry and the problem of messy handwritten repair orders. Easily print estimates and write repair orders containing all the pertinent information about the customer and the boat or motor being serviced.
Measures mechanic productivity
- Tracks exact hours spent on a job versus invoiced hours
- Prints status reports of current work orders and estimates
- Better management of service hours keeps mechanics busy
Improves workflow
- Standard labor codes quickly build accurate work orders
- Automatically orders non-stocked parts, sending them to the vendor's website
- Work orders and quotes email directly to customers
- Bill customer credit cards directly from the work order
- Search and locate parts by number, partial number, description, UPC, or vendor part number
- Attach photos of any boat or motor to document damage or required service
- Generate service department profitability and other variable reports
Creates precise work orders
- Convert estimates/quotes into active work orders once approved
- Pull parts and pricing directly from vendor price files
- Import parts from your EPC with one click (MIDAS, PartsManagerPro, ARI-Partsmart, Volvo EPC)
- Flags parts needing special order and sends them to a PO
- Add billable labor hours and detailed labor descriptions per job
- Flat rate labor guides available by OEM for recommended labor hours
- Assign multiple technicians to one work order
- Technician time clock tracks actual time versus billable hours
- Multiple labor rates for different repairs or technicians
- “Kit” function stores common jobs (winterization, bottom paint) for one-click work orders
- “Duplicate” function turns any past work order into a template for repeat repairs
- “Internal” feature tracks parts/labor on internal jobs and adds those costs to the unit's cost basis
- Generates and tracks warranty tickets, with OEM warranty reports
EPC interface
Commander interfaces with popular EPC programs from Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, and Volvo Penta. Your pick list created in the EPC transfers directly to your work order, with no manual typing of part numbers. Because OEM and vendor catalogs are stored on your computer, it's easy to find, price, and special order parts for the job, and compiling and transmitting purchase orders takes just a few mouse clicks.

Price and cross reference
Web-based price updates keep pricing current across Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, Honda, and major aftermarket suppliers (Land 'N' Sea, Kellogg, Donovan, and others). Cross Reference suggests substitute parts with comparative pricing, and Commander integrates with the Huggins Outboard cross reference system, including side-by-side OEM/aftermarket photo comparisons.
Pricing is our specialty
Parts prices are always changing. Selling parts from Land 'N' Sea, Sierra, Mesco, Port Supply, Mercury, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Volvo Penta adds up to roughly 1.1 million part numbers. MIC Systems has a whole department that collects, compiles, converts, and distributes parts pricing for over 400 vendors and distributors, and can even build “one off” customized price files for your own local short-line vendors.
Flat rate labor guide
Import flat rate labor guides directly, since most marine vendors make these available for download. Commander can also convert and integrate the Spader database.
Technician scheduler
An interactive, colorized calendar view of jobs by technician, viewable by day, week, or month. Double-click a job to open the RO directly; right-click to reschedule, mark complete, or adjust the time scale. Printable as a handout for technicians.
Take control of your service department
With fingertip access to customers, boats, motors, and parts inventory, your technicians can be more organized and work faster, focusing attention back on repairing customer units.
Commander helps sell a boat
Commander not only manages your new and used inventory but can also be a tool for working your deal, providing precise payment calculation and printing all of the necessary forms.
From handshake to paperwork
Sit down with a boat buyer, and the sales calculator crunches the numbers as you work the deal. After the sale is closed, the deal uploads to a Forms Generator, where all the required forms are printed. Forget about hand-writing or typing forms.
Add the sales calculator
- If you are a present Commander customer, you can add the Sales Calculator to your software
- To get started, purchase a license for the Commander sales calculator and install it in your existing Commander system
- Launch the Sales Calculator from inside Commander invoicing when you sell a unit
- Roll payments, adjust down payments, and compare scenarios while working the deal
- Arrive at the monthly payment based on the selected APR, agreed-upon loan term, and other variables
- A live “Deal Summary” tab calculates and displays the profit on the deal before it's completed
Once a deal is finalized in Commander, you're ready to print all your forms.
Prints required forms
- Boat, motor/trailer, and financing information export to the Commander Forms Generator and are automatically filled out and printed, no more hand-preparation of forms
- Forms are customized for your dealership: state DMV forms, purchase agreements, bank contracts, warranties, insurance verification forms, vehicle invoices, and more. If the one you need isn't already in our library, we'll add it to your system
- Additional integrations available with App One, RouteOne, and CUDL to automatically send information to those sites
Use Commander, not QuickBooks, for inventory and invoicing
The QuickBooks integration takes the invoices you make in Commander and electronically moves them over to QuickBooks. You don't need to manually post invoices, repair orders, or sales invoices. The integration even posts payments in Commander to QuickBooks.
Commander & QB, working together
Keep using QuickBooks for financial management (AR, AP, payroll) while replacing QuickBooks inventory and invoicing with Commander for all your parts, service, and sales transactions. All Commander invoice detail is sent to QuickBooks, eliminating manual posting.
Commander solves QB problems
QuickBooks has real limitations for a dealership. Commander solves each one:
Better at inventory than QuickBooks
- All vendor parts are stored on your computer and available for special ordering, no manual entry required
- Automatic parts price updates, no more manually updating one part number at a time
- Complete price catalogs update automatically, some even daily
- Integrates with all EPCs, enabling tag-and-drop functionality
- Spader Flat Rate Labor guide integration
- Purchase order uploading directly to supplier websites, no typing or faxing
The best of both
Marine dealers should use Commander's invoicing and work order programs in conjunction with QuickBooks accounting. All of QuickBooks' limitations are overcome with Commander, plus Commander offers much more in the way of custom features.
